Fans of Reality TV - is Reality TV a joke?
I read an interesting article found here about men & women in relationships or lack there of. It got me thinking about REALITY TV and all the relationships that are started and ended in the public eye. There have been an enormous amount of shoes solely dedicated to “meeting” a potential partner. Shows, such as:
- The Bachelor
- Flavor of Love
- Date My Mom
- For Love or Money?
- I Love New York 1 & 2
- Joe Millionaire
- My Fair Brady
- NEXT
- Newlyweds - Nick and Jessica
- X Effect
- A Shot at Love
Those are just a few of the “dating/relationship” shows off the top of my head. So why are we so addicted to REALITY TV? Is it because we’re bored? or Wish we could take the risk to audition to be on reality TV? or is it something else? I find myself questioning why I get so enthralled with reality TV. Personally, I’m not “into” all reality TV shows, but I do enjoy more than the average person.
So is reality TV a joke? I think that shoes, such as the above yes may be a joke. For instance, Date My Mom. I find this show so addicted and hilarious. It’s funny to see what kind of things come out of the guys mouth to the mom. At times I feel embarrassed for them lol. The shows that are “jokes” are the shows that do not last many seasons, like Britney Spear’s show Chaotic. That show seemed a bit on the desperate side - and it was on the desperate side for MONEY.
I’m waiting to see if Britney Spear’s little sister comes out with a show about her and her baby to be. My guess is people would watch it…heck I would watch it…lol. In fact I will probably buy the first magazine to have her and her baby on the cover.
Reality TV shows have become very “creative.” I am excited to see what kinds of reality TV shows are to come in the future.
